Location
This photo was taken on the South Island of New Zealand, about 30 miles southwest of Christchurch.Time
The photo was taken around noon. The skies had remained very dramatic as an aftermath of a recent typhoon hitting the island's west coast.Lighting
This is shot with natural light - certainly influenced by what is going on in the sky that day.Equipment
OlympusOMD-E-M1 Mark I 12-40 Pro lensInspiration
My inspiration came from seeing all the effort people had gone to to create the rock cairns on the shore of this lake. There were hundreds of them!Editing
I used HDRpro to process 5 bracketed images at 0.7 stop intervals. I color corrected and sharpened in Photoshop CC.In my camera bag
For local shooting, I use all Nikon gear. My bodies are a D810 and a D500. I have a wide assortment of lenses - I vary my pack based on what I am shooting. - never leaving home without my 24-70 2.8 ED VR. Fro travel , I love my Olympus. My bodies are the OM-D E-M1 Mark II and E-M3 Mark III. I shoot with all the Pro-series lenses.Feedback
Travel! My wife and I have tried to take at least one international trip each year. Since traveling to New Zealand in 2014, we have been to Italy, Mexico, Costa Rica, Peru, Chile, Argentina and the Galapagos. All have been fantastic photography opportunities.
