This is by far, one of the most beautiful kitty portraits I have ever seen presented! I am an animal lover and especially fond of felines from kittens to the big cats of Africa so trust me, I've seen bunches of them!

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my friends (cat's owner) backyard. She owns Siberian male and female and they got six little kittens. They were only few months old and very playful during our photo session.

Time

The photo session took pace in the morning. Sun was still relatively low but very bright and was casting cool backlight on a furry kitten.

Lighting

I did not use any artificial light, but rather natural strong sun light that was coming from the subject's back. To avoid shadows caused by this sort of natural lighting I used a table and a black background.

Equipment

Camera that I work with is Canon 7d. I usually use two lenses depending on the subject: Tamron 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II and Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro. Tripod that i use is Hakuba S-4500.

Inspiration

Subject itself.

Editing

I like to post-process my images using Lightroom and CS-6 and that's what I did with this image. I enhanced contrast and definition.

In my camera bag

I normally carry with me Canon 7d. Tamron 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II and Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro. Tripod that I use is Hakuba S-4500. Not to forget several compact flash cards (I have 32 GB for the RAW format images and movies, and also several 4 GB flash cards just in case). On a longer trips I always take my computer and external drive for extra back-ups.

Feedback

When you get cute and playful subjects just be patient, but always ready. Shoot lot and wait patiently for a right moment. Try not to come too close and distract your subject. Let your subject do whatever they like to do because the less focus they have on you the more natural and amazing they'll look once they are captured. Work for kids too:)!!! Enjoy!!!
