Location
Banff Alberta Canada while fishing.Time
Mid morning shot.Lighting
The day was perfect so the lighting was a bit bright.Equipment
Nikon D90 with a new 400mm lens. Shot taken while panning in full 400 magnification. I should have backed off and cropped later but it all happened very quickly.Inspiration
This was the first time I had the chance to take Bald Eagle shots with this type of gear. I went fishing with the chance to see this beautiful creature.Editing
Not much at all. This is pretty much it including not being cropped at all.In my camera bag
Now a D800 and the D90 from Nikon and the 400 mm and at couple smaller lenses for landscapes and wider angles. I also have a new GPS connection for verifying my location on the map. An extra flash and as many chips and batteries as possible so i do not get caught with hours worth of shays and not enough backup to support it.Feedback
Find an area that the eagles are feeding and put your camera on high speed mode in this case sport mode and hit the Auto focus and follow through while snapping away. After this I did back off of full Magnification once i knew they were looking to feed. I was able to make sure I did not miss any opportunity to get the entire bird in the shot by doing so.
