Location
The shot was taken at Phinda Reserve, South AfricaTime
7:15 AMLighting
The lighting was beautiful with the golden hour sun shining.Equipment
Canon 20D, Canon 100-400L at 400mm. The shot was hand held.Inspiration
I love wildlife, especially the bid cats. Any opportunity I have to take pictures of them in the wild is magical for me. This shot is no exception.Editing
I shoot in raw, so minor post processing was done with contrast, sharpening, and levels. This is a full frame photo. In my camera bag
I now carry two camera bodies, 7D II and 5D Mark III. Lenses include 400DO, 100-400L, 70-200L 2.8, 28-70L, 70-300L and 17-40Feedback
When going on a safari, you will be sitting in a vehicle and your access to normal stabilizing tools like tripods and monopods will either be useless or will get in your way. In South Africa, the vehicles are wide open and animals can come at you from any angle including from above. Bring lenses that you can hand hold, they will serve you best.
