The sun was setting and I bumped the ISO to 1600 and I was still able to manage 1/250 sec at f/5.6Equipment
I had my Canon 1D IV along with Canon 100-400L . I was resting my arms on the side of the vehicle for stability but no flash or tripod was used.Inspiration
There were 3 cubs and 2 adult females at a small waterhole. The cubs were busy playing with each other and occasionally mom. The photo opportunities were only hindered by the very poor light. This shot shows one of the cubs deciding to play with his very tolerant mother.Editing
The photo was shot in raw, so I had to work on the levels and contrast. There was a small amount of cropping to taste also.In my camera bag
I currently carry a Canon R5, Canon 1Dx and Canon 7D II along with Canon 100-400L II, Canon 400 DO II with 1.4x, Canon 70-200 L III 2.8 and other supportive lenses.Feedback
With wildlife you have to be both lucky and patient. We sat with the lions and their cubs for well over an hour waiting for shot opportunities. However with the low light, make sure you are watching those settings. The camera I used was good at high ISO but the newer ones are even better. Do not be afraid to bump the ISO to maintain higher shutter speeds to stop motion.
