Thank you Anne; I think it was all an act but I was shitting meself (excuse language) even though he was tethered! :-) I'd have loved him to be free though... This and many hundreds of other birds of prey native or foreign to our shores, are cared for by The Hawk Conservancy Trust here in the UK... their breeding record and dedication to some of the planets most endangered and persecuted birds, is wonderful.

They are a great bird, and you have captured him perfectly, great photo. We have a wedge tail eagle here that is similar shape but no white feathers on the head, it is still a magnificent bird to watch soaring along the tops of escarpments in the middle of Australia.

Also one of my favourite places! I go to the Trust four or five times a year and This bird (Orion if I am not mistaken!) is a real poser for me too! I have several shots of him on here but none as good as this one! Really done well to capture not only a good portrait but a shot that conveys his feelings and emotions too. Awesome!
