This is a fantastic picture. Did you change the colors at all? I don't mean saturate, I mean change. The colors are so beautiful!

I took this photo in Auburn University's Davis arboretum on campus in Auburn, AL.Time
I took this photo about mid afternoon in May of 2012.Lighting
It was a bright afternoon but there was lots of foliage giving a soft natural light in which to take pictures.Equipment
I used my Nikon D7000 and no flash. I had spent a good bit of time on taking pictures of a damselfly that day too so I'm pretty sure I did use a tripod- especially given the settings. Settings were f11, 1/25 sec exp, and ISO 800.Inspiration
My husband and I like to have friendly photo competitions! He had definitely gotten better dragonfly photos that day, but he conceded I won the flower category with this cone flower shot! This shot actually went on to be published in the Davis Arboretum annual calendar!Editing
I really didn't have to! The color really was so saturated and I loved the beautiful blur of hues behind the petals. I was really excited when I had seen what I had captured! In my camera bag
I have since upgraded to a Nikon D7100, and have a 105mm 1:2.8 macro lens with VR, and a 70-300 lens. I also love my ND filters. My favorite gadget is my little wi-fi attachment that send pics to my iPad. I know newer cameras are being made with this function and I love it!Feedback
Take LOTS of pictures. I think I took about 40 variations of this photo. Something slightly different about each one. Challenge yourself to look at everything from a different angle. I also highly recommend doing the Photo 365 project. I learned so much about my camera and lighting when I was challenged to take a picture on days when the lighting or subject matter available was less than ideal!
