Many thanks... it took several hours work to remove the modern artifacts from the image.

Beautiful edit. Every time I see such an image I get all the more inspired to do some HDR. I start a college class tomorrow on Photoshop CS5, so probably not too far off. Added this to my favorites. :)

I downloaded the trial version of CS5 yesterday... Its a VERY powerful program. I will most likely buy it. Make sure you get CS5 Extended Student version its considerably cheaper.

This HDR was produced with a Nikon D5000 set on auto bracket (3 shots: 1-under, 1-normal and 1-over exposed). After merging into an HDR I edited out the artifacts (rather then trying to edit 3 pre-HDR shots) One thing that surprised me about this shot was the amount of detail of the the pilot and the capture of sun glare off the prop and windshield which can be seen in the full sized image.
