Behind The Lens
Location
This shot was captured on the island of Roatan, Honduras. We were visiting an iguana sanctuary and this blanket was draped over a table selling small souvenirs. After taking several shots of green and brown iguanas, this blanket was in stark contrast to the earthy tones.Time
Mid-day.Lighting
Natural sunlight behind me.Equipment
Hand-held, Nikon D80, 18-70mm lens, flash did not fire.Inspiration
My favorite subjects are lines and colors and this was the best of both worlds. I hadn't seen such bright colors in one piece like this.Editing
Slight crop and I slightly tweaked the contrast, other than that I try hard not to do too much in the way of post-processing. I am old school in that I try to take the photo as naturally as possible. In my camera bag
DSLR, 18-200mm lens plus a 70-300mm lens. One of my favorite "must haves" is a circular polarizer filter and I have one for each of my lenses. These filters really make colors pop.Feedback
Travel with an open mind, you never know what scene you will come across. Wander off the beaten track when it is safe to do so. There are always great scenes and colors to find at outdoor markets. Also, don't fret overcast days as I find bright sunlight often creates harsh shadows and undesirable lighting conditions.
