While visiting the Georgia Aquarium, I walked up to the main attraction featuring a 100'x40' viewing window looking into an aquarium that featured whale sharks spanning 20 feet long. While the tour guide was giving us some general information on the sea life residing in the aquarium, I noted the unique sight, and took the picture to represent a lone sailor at sea. The sailor is alone, by himself, in a place that is familiar to him from years of experience and travel, yet dangerous to him from the many unknown and lurking mysteries in the depths. When you are at sea, you never can tell just exactly what is in the water. You know what is there, but you are not sure whether it seeks to friend you, or deceive you. This is shown by the tour guide having her back to the fish, which she knows are there, however she cannot see exactly what is behind her. She can take comfort, however, in knowing that at least somewhere there in the water, the fish do not seek to harm her. Her years of experience give her the knowledge that she can be safe in this vast world known as the sea, here in her small world that she is sharing with us.
