I was taking a class for Photoshop CC at Northwest Nazarene University and one of the assignments was to shoot a portrait. The school had a studio shoot in but the lights were harsh and made in the images to contrastity. So I used my flash conneced to a five foot extenion cord and shot it off the wall to soften the light. My exposture was taken between 15th and 30th of second and told the model shake her head back and forth. After 150 images and having a model getting a dizzy, I had my image.Time
I shot the image at night after I got off work.Lighting
The light from the flash was set at 16th of the power so it could keep up with motor drive of the camera at 5 frames before recycling. The Nikon SB-800 allows you to shoot in a automatic or manual modes and helps with the image you are trying to get.Equipment
I have Nikon D2H and the lens was a Nikon 20-35 F 2:8 with a Nikon SB-800.Inspiration
Portraits should always be taken to illustrate the person being or personality. The image was an experiment with light and a slow shutter speed and in photography alot of luck.Editing
Nope, just went to the studio and had fun.In my camera bag
I have two Nikon D2H camera with 20-35 F2:8 and 80-200 F2:8 both NIkon plus a SB-800 flash.Feedback
The best part of photography is to experiment and show the creativity, the good thing about digital cameras you can shoot as many photos as you want to get the best images.
