Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in my garden I was just messing about with settings trying out new stuff as I was quite new to photography

Time

It was quite late and the sky was clear I was a bit bored and just picked up my camera and started to mess around I couldn't get the shot I visioned but this was one of many I did get and I liked it

Lighting

I always try to use natural light, it was a dark night but as it was a clear sky the moon was bright

Equipment

I was using a Panasonic G3 with a 50 -200 mm lens no flash was used I didn't use a tripod either

Inspiration

I wanted to get my first pic of the moon I knew my equipment would not get the sort of pic I visualised so went for something within my scope After messing about I got a similar shot to this one and then continued along that theme until I got this one

Editing

The only post processing was a slight crop

In my camera bag

Since this photo I have improved and learned a lot I have also upgraded my equipment and I now carry a Canon 70D lenses I carry are 18-55 is stm 55-250 is stm and a 50 mm prime I carry a range of filters and when needed carry a Manfotto055xprob tripod I find the tripod is very sturdy and heavy enough to withstand windy weather although I do always carry a small beanbag which I find very useful

Feedback

My best advice on capturing pics like this one is to enjoy what your doing experiment with different angles shooting through object like trees and bushes maybe fences take pictures that you find interesting and pleasing and others will see the same quality sometimes the best pics are the ones you didn't set out to take but your creative flow got there by chance
