Location
The Sundial Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge for bicycles and pedestrians that spans the Sacramento River in Redding, California, It was opened on July 4, 2004 and serves as the entrance to the Sacramento River Trail System. As the name suggests, it is a working sundial and one of the largest in the world. I once lived in Redding, California and took this photo at sunrise while visiting my family there. I enjoyed taking my mom's dog for a walk on the river trail from her home, through nearby Caldwell Park, and then eventually making my way along the Sacramento River to the Sundial Bridge.Time
This photo was taken by me during sunrise. I was enjoying the leading lines of not only the "floor" of the bridge but also of the cables that connect to the Sundial. The sweet spot was that someone was standing at the other end of the bridge wearing a salmon-colored tank top which gives a bit of perspective to the size of the sundial.Lighting
Sunrise, soft light.Equipment
I used a Canon Camera and lens on a tripod. No flash; no filter.Inspiration
I used to live in the area and have always enjoyed taking photos along the Sacramento River.Editing
Not much post-processing. What you see is what I got.In my camera bag
Canon 6D; Canon lenses: 700-200mm; 24-70mm; and a Tamaron lens 100-400mm. I also like using Circular Polarizing filters, and on occasion, I will use a Star Filter just for fun.Feedback
Photograph in soft light - whether it be at sunrise, sunset or in-between. Once you find that soft, even light, it will make all the difference in your photos.
