In the summer of 2007 my brother Bob, who is in the background of this image, announced to us that he had been diagnosed with lung and brain cancer two days before this picture was taken. A group of us went to the shore to spend some time together before he and his wife flew back to Seattle. His best friend, John was saying goodbye to Bob's wife Lennis and I just happened to get this shot. Bob always said he was "gonna fight this sumbitch" for as long as he could but when the cancer takes a left turn, there's nothing more I can do. In November of 2009, it took the turn and he lost his battle. This image has been on thier mantle since the week after it was taken.
