Behind The Lens

Location

I took this while house sitting, my boss had this plant and the veins were fascinating.

Time

I was afternoon or evening time.

Lighting

The back light for this is the flashlight from my IPhone. I had just been reading about how to do back-lighting to get this effect and i wanted to try it. With a very little bit of editing it came out great!

Equipment

I took this on my first and only DSLR camera a Nikon D5100, and i was using nikor lense, and my Iphone flashlight.

Inspiration

I was inspired by horse photography actually, and then Improve Photography had a blog about getting a black background in daylight so i had to try.

Editing

I did very minimal post-processing, but edited the black levels and contrast levels a bit but that is it.

In my camera bag

I always keep my D5100, two Nikor lenses 18-55, and 55-200mm. Two flashes, extra batteries, extra memory cards, Business cards (you never know!) and i keep flash triggers.

Feedback

My advice would be to play around find a subject that interests you, like the leaf did me, and play around with your settings, lighting, everything. and see what works what doesn't.
