Location
I took this photo in a studio that I was renting at the time in downtown Toronto.Time
The photo was taken in the afternoon but I was using two flashes on the subject.Lighting
I used two speedlights to light the subject and catch her movement in the air, they were put on both sides of her opposite to each other. .Equipment
I used my Canon 5d mark 2 with the 24-105mm F4 lens on it and two 580 ex2 Canon speed lights. I was hand holding the camera since I don't really like to use a tripod unless it's for long exposures or light painting.Inspiration
I was doing a series of silhouettes with the model first and while playing around with the light we also decided to do some action shots since the model is very fit. I asked her to jump doing different types of poses in the air and have fun, I like to have fun with the models at each photo shoot.Editing
I did only minimal post-processing like I do on all my photos, maybe just change the brightness a bit and the levels, everything else is pretty much as it came out of the camera. In my camera bag
It depends on what I'm shooting, for model photo shoots I usually use my Canon 5D mark 3 camera with the 24-105mm F4 lens or the 40mm f2.8 pancake lens. For street photography or events I used my Canon 60D camera with the 8mm Rokinon fisheye lense or one of the other two lenses mentioned above or my Fuji X20 camera.Feedback
Try to play with light and experiment with lighting your model with one, or two or even three flashes and see how it turns out. A lot of amazing photos come out from experimentation.
