The monkey on the left kept dunking the monkey on the right in the onsen, as soon as he came back out the other monkey would go behind him, grab him by the head and push him back in. This went on for about 5 minutes or so until the dunked monkey had enough and he came out of the hot water and ran away. The facial expressions he makes during this ordeal are hilarious though, both of their facial expressions are. This was shot at Jigokudani Monkey Park in Nagano, Japan.

Behind The Lens

Location
I took this photo at the snow monkey park in Nagano, Japan. The actual name is Jigokundani Koen and it is open to tourists throughout the whole year.
Time
Most of the photos such as this one were taken in the morning and once the afternoon came and it was very sunny most of the monkeys decided to relax and bask in the sunshine so there wasn't much activity going on.
Lighting
The light used is just normal daylight coming through the clouds.
Equipment
I used mostly my Canon 60D with the 70-200 mm f2.8 L lens from Canon, and for some photos, I used the Canon EOS M camera with the Rokinon 8 mm fisheye lens. This photo was taken with the 70-200mm lens of course and mostly shot at f2.8 for quite a lot of photos.
Inspiration
I went to the park specifically to see and take photos of the snow monkey at play. These two guys kept playing in the pool, the one on the left kept pushing the other one's head under the water and as soon as he came back up he pushed him back under again.
Editing
I did very minimal post-processing, as usual, mostly just to change the level, colours and brightness and contrast.
In my camera bag
I usually shoot with the Canon 60D and the Canon EOS M camera. Sometimes depending on the shoot I may use my Canon 5D mark 3 camera. As for lenses I usually use the Rokinon 8mm Fisheye lens and the Canon 24-105mm F4 lens on my Canon 60D. I have the Canon 22mm f2.0 lens on my Canon M camera but I do have an adapter to use my EF lenses on the small mirrorless camera if I need to. As for lights, I have a small Canon 90EX flash and the Yongnuo YN560-3 flash, which I trigger off camera with the Yongnuo Rf-603C 2 flash triggers.
Feedback
You will want to go to the park early and be there when it opens around 9 am so you don't have to wait in line and you can take your picks of who you want to shoot. There are lots of monkeys but instead of being distracted and chasing after them it's a good idea to find a couple you like and follow them around and take photos of them and then move on to another group.
