.....small subject ....too far ....old dlsr Nikon D500 camera ....old Tamron 150-600mm zoom lens ....1.4x teleconverter ....the foto specs below dont show the 35mm focal length equivalent ....which is as follows
.....dlsr aps-c crop factor 1.5 x 600mm lens x 1.4 teleconverter = 1260mm although metadata explains it as 1275mm ....although again Tamron explains this is really operating at 1300mm when shooting the Tamron G2 fully extended on a Nikon aps-c camera
.......with such a small image left over after discarding the unwanted useless pixels of course the image would need to be resized to a respectable wall hanging size IF i actually acquire the shot ...I mean to say this bird or target has many obstacles at that distance ....firstly a steady hand has a pulse adding to nerve driven excitement ....oh and humidity temperature and wind ...oh yes wind pushing not only me but the tree this bird is sitting on ....but the real enemy is just the atmospheric conditions .....sure you can see the bird but can your sensor beat through the humidity and fluctuating temperature variations .....at this distance ?? .......probably not so you better take a few more shots to account for that and some more shots because just because you think you are in focus on that very far tiny tiny bird ....you probably are not.
......So wildlife doesnt stand still either ....you better be ready and well practiced because most of these animals are a bit shy and always on the go ......thats right ....they dont want to be discovered or surprised ....sometimes they can be social but only on their terms .....Good Luck and Capture that image!!!
.....You know now that i think about it.... I could have just moved closer LOL!!!

Spectacular bird and technique.
As to "an old DSLR and d500" I use the same for ally birds and we have the advantage that! We can see what we get through the viewfinder instead of guessing and hoping electronics will fix it, we have a nice clear vie WHILE it happens and we don't need spare batteries. No b...y way I'm getting a mirrorless and I'm glad others dump these great lenses now so that we can afford them and then take a great photo like yours here
