"A Beautiful Soul". I met this lovely woman on my recent trip to Bigga and beyond. Even though it was obvious from the lines on her face that she had had a hard life, her beautiful blue eyes and her wonderful smile and genuine interest in what I was photographing revealed a beautiful soul. I spent several minutes talking to here before I asked if it would be OK if I could take a photo of her.
Her eyes lit up and smile broadened as she said "Yes, of course you can" before hurriedly moving herself and her walker over towards the big rambling rose bush in front of her old house where she posed herself just like a seasoned, modern model would do. She needed no direction from me. She made sure that there were no shadows across her face and everything was as she wanted.. She looked straight down the camera lens as if this was something that came second nature to her and then said with the confidence of a professional model ... "I'm ready".
I wonder who this beautiful soul was and what her life experiences had been. It will be a very long time before I forget this unexpected but wonderful meeting.

I did not know at the time that her name was Ursula and I have since been told that her surname is Phelps, the same as mine. I do not believe that we are related though. 22nd November 2023. Post processed using Photoshop to emphasize the hard life that she had had and to bring out her blue eyes and wonderful smile. In my camera bag
My camera bag is always packed, ready for any unexpected moment that a great image might come along. It contains my Canon 760D camera and two of my most used lenses - Tamron 18 - 270 mm and my Sigma 10 - 20 mm, a range of ND filters, spare battery and SD cards.Feedback
Always be ready and prepared to talk to people, particularly anyone that looks like they may have a story to tell and a story that can be captured in a single image or a series of images. I have found that many elderly, country folk are quite willing to tell you their story.
