Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Taronga Zoo in Sydney during a free flight bird show.

Time

Taken in early afternoon.

Lighting

Natural lighting on a partly cloudy day.

Equipment

Hand held Canon EOS 10D. 1/160th sec @ f9 and ISO 800

Inspiration

Seeing this bird in free flight and then coming back to its keeper to get a "reward" and looking so regal was just impossible not to try and get a photograph.

Editing

No post processing at all apart from a small amount of cropping.

In my camera bag

Two Canon cameras, a variety of lenses, but I mainly use a Sigma 18-200mm. Of course there are always an array of ND filters, a Flash unit. I rarely go anywhere without a tripod.

Feedback

Be patient, but also be ready because birds move very quickly and there is always a certain amount of luck involved.
