This is an image of the leftmost star of the Belt of Orion in the Orion constellation. Located roughly 1500 light years from Earth, the bright star in the field is pulverizing the gas cloud below it along with a cluster of stars within the gas cloud Illuminating it to appear as a flame. The dark nebula in front of the deep red cloud of gas in the background is one of the most iconic nebulae known as the Horsehead Nebula. The flare from the top of the frame is light from the multi star system that is actively ionizing the field of hydrogen and is the cause of that deep red brilliant glow.
