Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles, California. I positioned my camera just outside a window of my 6th floor suite.Time
The sun was setting behind the tall buildings, just about 6:30pm on an October day, casting brighter lights and darker shadows.Lighting
I was definitely aiming for a some-what vintage mood when composing this image. The sun light was fading quickly behind the high-rises increasing the darkness which gives it a subtle somber quality.Equipment
I used my Nikon D750 camera, the Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM Macro Lens, and my two hands that day.Inspiration
Everyone knows how much I love Halloween and the macabre. My friends and I took a 3-day trip to the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel back in October of 2021 to celebrate Halloween. We heard rumors about it being haunted with celebrities like Marilyn Monroe and Montgomery Clift, so we wanted to see for ourselves. The Roosevelt and Hollywood Boulevard were just a few stops we had planned throughout our trip. I took home a few good shots and some spooky encounters!Editing
I'm still pretty new with editing but I did some tweaks on the contrast and slightly darkened the image. In my camera bag
I like to keep spare batteries, a few lenses, and a microfiber cloth in my backpack.Feedback
