I took this shot in my hometown, Long Beach, California back in 2011 when I first picked up a camera. I was 18 years old.Time
The year 2011 was a life changing year for me. I had my first and only child a few months prior to this shot and with all the wonderful experiences and hardships that come with being a mother I had a longing to get back in touch with my passions, photography being one. I snapped this photograph of myself for pure joy in the late morning as the sun moved into it's highest position above the world, allowing the right amount of natural light to enter my window.Lighting
The natural sunlight helped me take this photograph.Equipment
The Cannon PowerShot SD4000 has been my nifty tool for this photo as well as most of my other pieces. I used the flash setting and set it upon a chair for placement and placed a timer. I plan to upgrade my tools now knowing I have people who are interested in my work, which is still mind blowing!Inspiration
My desire to be expressive was the fuel of this photo. Being a young woman and becoming a new mom takes dedication and some days it can become a little dark and cloudy. I find solace and peace in photography. At first it was an art of expression but now I want to improve this craft and become professional.Editing
For this shot I just added the Sepia filter for a raw feeling. In my camera bag
My Cannon ProShot SD4000,(for now).Feedback
My advice for finding "the shot" would be experiment and take multiple shots. Utilize times of day for the mood/emotion you are trying to capture.
