Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken ... like most of my flower shots ... in my dark kitchen. No blowing wind, no flying insects and also not to curious views from the neighborhood, but enough time to try different light and points of view.

Time

The late evening or the early night are a good time for shooting in the dark with light only for my blooming models.

Lighting

I don't use a flash for my way of flower photography. Only the LED light the cupboard in my kitchen and long exposure times are needed for such shining colors and such tiny details.

Equipment

My camera is a Panasonic Lumix G81, my macro lens for my flower pics is the LUMIX G ASPH H-HS030. Of course I use a tripod Rollei M4-Mini and a cable release because of very long exposure times.

Inspiration

Our nature is really a great artist. I only try to keep a tiny part of all the beauty of colorful and fascinating flowers with my photographs.

Editing

The white balance of the camera is the first way to influence the colors of the blossoms in my wanted direction. Sometimes I also use software like Corel Photo Paint or Radiant to get special effects, or to rotate and cut the pics very easy.

In my camera bag

While shooting flowers at home I don't need a big bag. But while traveling usually there are two lenses (LUMIX G MACRO 30mm / F2.8 ASPH H-HS030 and LUMIX G VARIO 14-140mm / F3.5-5.6 ASPH H-FS14140) in my bag, sometimes a cable release, a few filters (grey and polarization), and always ... sure ... the Panasonic G81.

Feedback

Be creative, make many pictures with different perspectives, details and lights and keep only the best! Be patient until you are satisfied with the results! But please enjoy it, have always pleasure and fun!
