Grape hyacinths ( Muscari botryoides ) is a plant in the asparagus family or Hyacinthaceae . The flowers are close together, and are almost spherical. The lower flowers are nodding, and the upper ones slightly upright. The latter usually without pistil or stamens . The flowers are blue with a white border or are completely white.
Grape hyacinths are native to the Mediterranean and Asia Minor . This plant has become naturalized mainly in the warmer parts of Central Europe.
In the Netherlands, the plant mainly grows in grasslands and along dune areas, but can also be found in forests and meadows.
