Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in the Addo Elephant Park, South Africa at Hapoor Dam.

Time

In the Morning, around 07.30h, in January 2023!

Lighting

To take good photos at this Waterhole I know that the better time is in the morning after sunrise.

Equipment

Shot with my Sony A1 and 70-200mm 2.8 lense. Since I was on the way with my car, the Cam was positioned on a bean bag.

Inspiration

At Addo Elephant you can see big herds of elephants and all photographers know that the most elephant traffic is at Hapoor Dam. You just have to wait at the waterhole until something happens - and something always happens. Just take your time.

Editing

The original raw-file I edited in Lightroom. Not to much, just a little bit in color, contrast and luminosity.

In my camera bag

CAM: Sony A1 : Sony 16-35mm f2.8, 70-200mm f2.8 and the 200-600mm. Tripod, Beanbags and a view Filters.

Feedback

For Wildlife Photography its important that you take your time, because nothing happens at the push of a button! The best scenes enfold while waiting mostly at the waterholes. Try to postition yourself at the best spot for the perfect light, mainly during sunrise or sunset. And it always takes a portion of luck.
