Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in the Kgalagadi Transfrontierpark, South Africa at the Cubitje Quap Waterhole. This waterhole is well known for Bateuleur Eagle activities.

Time

I took the picture on my way back from an early morning drive. Picture was taken around 10:00h in the morning.

Lighting

Nothing special on this shot about lighting, because it was taken during the day using the natural light.

Equipment

The shot was taken with a Canon 5D MarkIV and a Canon EF 100-400 LSII. Since I was on the way with my car, the Cam was positioned on a bean bag.

Inspiration

This waterhole in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park is well known for Bird activities specially Eagles. The birds come and go to the waterholes for taking a sip of water, drying their feathers before flying of again. Nothing happens at the push of a button, so the best scenes enfold while waiting mostly at the waterholes. Take your time.

Editing

The original raw-file I edited in Lightroom. Not to much, just a little bit in color, contrast and luminosity.

In my camera bag

CAMS: Canon 5D MarkIV. LENSES: Canon 100-400mm, Canon 16-35mm, Sigma 150-600 Sport, Sigma 24-70mm. Tripod, Beanbags and a view Filters.

Feedback

For Wildlife Photography its important that you take your time, because nothing happens at the push of a button! The best scenes enfold while waiting mostly at the waterholes. Try to postition yourself at the best spot for the perfect light, mainly during sunrise or sunset. And it always takes a portion of luck.
