Location
I took this photo in Rome in a pretty famous spot, Castel Sant'Angelo.Time
In a stormy winter afternoon, before sunset.Lighting
Bad weather is always the best weather for photography! No matter if you are in the city or in the great outdoors (even if in the city is much less risky). After the storm the sun appeared and a warm light covered the city, even enhanced by the contrast with the dark sky.Equipment
My Nikon D500 with a Nikon 16-80 mm. Taken by hand.Inspiration
Rome is where I live but being passionate about nature photography I had never really considered taking photos around town. But lately I realized I am really like to live in such a wonderful city so I decided to always bring my camera with me in order to take advantage of any good situation I may encounter. Not (all) planned shots, just photographic occasions taken by chance... many more to come in the future!Editing
Just minor adjustments in Lightroom. In my camera bag
To be honest I am not that passionate about the last available technology... I use a Nikon D500 with a Nikkor 16-80 mm to be ready for any situation I may encounter while hiking or scouting the area. I also usually bring a wideangle (10-24 mm) and a macro lens (90 mm) both by Tamron, and for wildlife, a Sigma sport 150-600 mm. Manfrotto tripods and F-stop backpack.Feedback
If you visit a place for just a few days of course it is important to get the most you can by planning the shots and the best time to take them but I encourage everyone who is passionate about photography to always bring the camera with him/her even next to home or while going to work, and take advantage of any good situation, be it a great light, some urban wildlife, a beautiful architecture or any other interesting subject. It also helps to look at the day by day life with different eyes!
