Location
I captured this image at one of my favourite rural locations Near Dookie in rural Victoria in Australia not too far from my property.Time
I had been watching the changing weather most of the day .....looking towards this location..... as the clouds grew darker I decided it was time to head for this location at late afternoon .Lighting
I visioned this image to look dramatic with the building up of the dark clouds and the rain that was to come and I knew that the Light before the coming rains would be beautiful at this location with the tree on the hill one of my favourite locations that I have been shooting at for many years timing is everything and I was chasing the lovely light and captured it before the coming storm at very late afternoon and yes it did rain I was so fortunate to capture my vision prior to the storm.Equipment
My Canon 5D Mark V1 .... 16-35 EF Lens and my manfrotto tripod with cable release.Inspiration
My inspiration for this capture was the Weather with the building up of the dark storm clouds and knowing the location of this tree on the hill surrounded by the growing crops ..... and seeing the light before the storm I wished to capture that Light and with the dark clouds made for a dramatic yet lovely Light Image.Editing
Landscape photography can require alot of post processing I use photoshop however Its so important to get your exposure correct in camera ensuring you dont have any blown out highlights ect and that your composition is how you wished . Always check your histogram so important you may wish to tweak a few changes in post processing such as satuation and cropping it really is a individual choice on how we do or dont do any post processing . Always check for any dust spots and clean them up with spot healing brush ( always good to have your camera s sensor cleaned on a regular basis)In my camera bag
I shoot with Canons Full frame cameras, 5D mark 111, 5D MarkV1, 6D Mark11. lens include canon EF 16-35 mm, Canon EF 24-70mm, Canon zoom 70-200mm, Canon EF 85mm & a few other lenses, 2 manfrotto tripods, cable release , spare batteries & memory cards, wet weather gear, cleaning cloths , filters . phone in case of any emergencies .Feedback
Its important to plan ahead of where you wish to go to capture any images you may have in mind, Follow the weather on a app or watch the weather ..... write yourself some notes ..... timing is important ..... have your batteries charged camera s & gear packed well in advance. Enjoy going out shooting be prepared for changing weather & conditions..... focus on what you wish to achieve , be prepared to re visit locations ... be creative we are all creative in our own unique ways be happy and be safe.
