This photo was taken in my living room. I converted it into a photography studio for the day!Time
Late at night. You can shoot anytime in the studio!Lighting
There are two strobes camera right. One with a 22” beauty dish lighting my subject, the other with yellow and amber gels lighting the background.Equipment
My Pentax K-70 with the HD f/2.8 24-70 mm lens. I used a tripod and two strobes. There was also a white backdrop on a backdrop stand.Inspiration
I took this photo of my daughter after watching Lindsey Adler’s Learn+ episode on Color. I chose a triad from my color wheel based off the dress. Then I chose the background gels and her makeup color to complete the triad of colors. I love color so this was so much fun to plan and shoot!Editing
Yes. I processed this image in both Lightroom and photoshop. In my camera bag
I typically carry 4 speed lites with batteries. My 35 mm prime macro lens a light meter, a color passport.Feedback
Be intentional with the color palette you choose. Whether it’s a triad, monochromatic, complimentary, etc. I intentionally chose a triad first. Then start with something you have and fill in the rest. I have tons of colors for gels and makeup. So I started with the dress that we had and chose the makeup and background colors that would create the triad for the dress color.
