Behind The Lens

Location

This was on the New York side of the Niagara Falls. One weekend in February of 2014 or so, my husband had heard that Niagara Falls can freeze on top. But there is still a part of the falls, where the circle encloses, that the spray is still sprinkling.

Time

We had gotten there somewhere between noon to 1 pm.

Lighting

The lighting was all natural light. It was mostly cloudy and raining. But when we arrived the sun came out for just a minute. I took several shots before I got this one.

Equipment

I used my Canon EOS Rebel T3i.

Inspiration

It was cold, I was the only other person besides my husband on the bridge. I had turned around to see all the viewfinders frozen. They reminded me of Smiling Faces. It was as if the knew that I should not have been out there on that date.

Editing

I don't know how to use the RAW format of a picture, so basically I don't do too much post processing.

In my camera bag

I keep my Canon EOS Rebel T3i, Canon Zoom Lens EFS 55-250mm, Canon Lens EFS 18-55mm. Extra battery pack, and various Cokin A series filters.

Feedback

In order to capture something similar watch for the weather. I had done some reach as to more or less the temperature was to dip. Even though the weather was predicted to be raining all day. Take your time and don't rush. Keep moving for a better angle.
