Location
The photo was taken in 2 different locations in Los Angeles, CA. The stair photo was shot at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)Time
The LACMA photo was shot in the afternoon while walking down the stairs. The photo of buildings was shot in the morning from inside my car. I thought the 2 composited photos expressed our transition from earth to sky, life to death, reality to fantasy.Lighting
I wanted the photo to have a dreamlike quality. Creating the photo in Black & White helped to achieve that. Allowing the viewer to see themselves floating above the stairs on their journey toEquipment
Both photos were shot on the iPhone 7 & 10.Inspiration
I was thinking about images for earth & sky photos. I liked the combination of hardscape and softscape creating the dreamlike quality.Editing
The post-processing was done in Adobe Photoshop on my IMac computer & my iPhone. I used the black and white filter on the iPhone for both photos then composited the 2 photos on my computer using Photoshop and finally adjusted the exposure, brightness, and contrast. In my camera bag
The only piece of equipment in my bag is my iPhone 12 I just replaced my iPhone 10. I love the portability. For me, it's not about technology but about vision.Feedback
I think the most important piece of advice is when you are compositing images make sure all your images work together to tell your story. I always finish my photos in post-processing programs Photoshop, Lightroom which can be used on your phone or computer. Now there are so many applications on the iPhone. Snapseed has incredible editing capabilities.
