How cold was it -40 degrees with the wind chill. It took me a loon time removing my boots because my hands were useless.

I took this photo in my back yard during a very cold -30 snow day. I set my broken camera and flash outside on a tripod. I filled a spray bottle with water and every now and then would go outside and spray water onto the camera. Then when I thought there was enough ice on the flash and camera I sprayed my face and beard.Time
I took the image on a very cold snowy day late in the afternoon.Lighting
I used available light the day was overcast with some snow so the light was soft with very few shadows.Equipment
I used a Nikon D750 camera with a n old 80 to 200mm lens . I shot at F2.8 1/250 sec ISO 400 no flashInspiration
I was photographing dog sled races the day before and it was -40 below with the wind chill and my friends I was with said it was so cold they were chilled to the bone. I thought I could produce an image that showed just how cold we were.Editing
I used photoshop CC to desaturate the self portrait and added a bit of a blue cast to make it look colder. I made a snow brush and added more snow to the background. In my camera bag
I have a D750 and D7100 cameras along with a number of lenses. Some of my favorite lenses are a Tamron 90mm macro lens Tamron 24-70mm Nikon 80-200mm Nikon 50mm 1.4 Sigma 10-20mm and a Tamron 150-600mm for nature. I also have two Godox V860 speedlights.Feedback
The best way to learn is to shoot and shoot often. I try to shoot as much variety as possible. I would suggest using You Tube as a learning resource and motivator. ViewBug is another great resource to see what others from around the world are producing and creating. Think outside the box and try to create a style that suites you be different and stand out.
