Mesa Arch in Canyonlands National Park, Utah is a landmark that people flock to so they can photograph it, especially at dawn. Before dawn on this day more than 50 people lined up several people deep to photograph the sun through the arch as it crested the horizon to the east. But this was also a week before the summer solstice, and the sun was rising well to the northeast. Only a woman from Slovakia and I positioned ourselves to get the sun in our photos. It made for a unique angle on an often photographed scene.
