Location
This was taken from the Montrose Avenue waterfront in Chicago, Illinois.Time
This was during sundown. As the sun falls to the photo's right, it's color range changes during sundown.Lighting
This was all natural lighting. I don't think I could've asked for a more beautiful evening. And trust me, I was not alone. There were several of us out there capturing the moment.Equipment
If I remember correctly, this was on my Nikon D5100 with a Sigma 70-20 f/2.8 supported on a tri-pod with a sand bag pulling it down. I also used a remote wired trigger.Inspiration
I've lived in Chicago most of my adult life. This location along the Wilson and Montrose Ave waterfront was somewhere I have spent a lot of time with family and friends.Editing
There was slight processing done to the reflection to rid several birds and a gradient filter over the sky.In my camera bag
I currently shoot on a Sony a7rii. Currently, I have a Sony GM 100-400, Sony GM 70-200, Tamron 28-75 f/2.8, Sony 50mm f1.8, Samyang 35mm f/1.4 and a Viltrox 85mm f/1.8. When I'm out and about on a hike (I live in Arizona) I take my two Sony kit lenses with me to save space and weight. But if I am on vacation, I will take the 70-200 and 28-75 with me.Feedback
Know your area and know your times. The sun rises and sets every day. People not taking photos just take it all in as the events happen. Photographers need to know where the locations are and when are the best times to capture these moments.
