Beautiful image. Love the lines in the sand - encourages the eye around the image. Beautiful lighting. Makes me feel like going back to Namibia.

Such and interesting shot - I love the texture of the encroaching wave-like sand dune! Terrific image! Kurt

Location
This was taken at Kolmannskuppe, an abandoned diamond mining town close to Lüderitzbucht in the south west of Namibia.Time
This was taken at approximately 11:00am on the 3rd June 2017. As it was overcast, it didn't really matter that it was close to noon.Lighting
It was a dark and gloomy day. The clouds provided beautiful diffused, yet moody light. It turned out to be a great day for black and white photography.Equipment
This was shot with Canon 650D, EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 ISII lens. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
Kolmannskuppe has always been on my photography bucket list. This ghost town provides for many different photo opportunities. For me personally the most interesting one is the interaction between nature and man-made structures. Off cause there are many other narratives at play here.Editing
The picture was taken in RAW and I used Photoshop Elements and the NIK collection to process the image and convert it to black and white. The NIK Collection is a really awesome tool for converting photos to black and white and it adds an extra dimesion of creativity. In my camera bag
I normally pack my camera (Canon 650D) and the EF-S55-250mm f/4-5.6 ISII lens as well a EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 ISII lens. Also in the bag I keep an spare battery, memory card and cleaning gear.Feedback
This is a really interesting location that has been photographed many times before (mostly with good light). When we were there, it was overcast and gloomy. So I changed my focus from looking for contrasts in colours and form to contrast in tones and form (I guess that's why it's great to learn black and white photography). Ruins fortunately always look good in black and white.
