Finding a good composition is not always easy. This morning I was struggling with it as I wanted to include the the boat with its very high mast without cropping it. Usually I would have gone just further away but as I wanted to include the jetty as a foreground element that was not possible. By moving further away the jetty became a small and unimposing mid ground element. So the only solution was to zoom out my lens all the way to 16mm which again brought some problems into the game. Now the polariser which I used to strengthen the colors became visible in the edges of the image. Finally I found myself to adjust the filterholder to the most thin option possible. How glad I was that I always carry a screwdriver in my bag! Luckily I managed to handle those very tiny screws with my frozen hands without falling to the ground which was covered by lots of snow. It would have been impossible to ever find them again - at least until next spring when the snow is gonna melt…
