Location
This image was taken at the Gymnastics World Championships, at the SSE Hydro, Glasgow, Scotland,UKTime
This was taken during the Apparatus finals of the world championships.. (about 4:00pm) of World Champion Simone Biles (USA) during her floor routine.Lighting
The whole arena had lighting set up for TV coverage and theatre effect for a more dramatic feel. I had zero control on this. it was a case of taking getting the images with the set up as is.. A lot of coloured lighting from above and very little side lighting.. luckily the floor was white / cream so it acted as a bit of a fill light, to soften the harsh down shadows.Equipment
Canon 1Dx with a sigma Sport 120mm-300mm F2.8 lens - sitting on a monopod, (as this combo is heavy)Inspiration
I was there covering gymnastics !Editing
small crop and thats about it.. in lightroom,In my camera bag
2 Camera bodies, selection of lenses, from 24mm up to 300mm plus extenders.. plenty of memory cards. Mac Air and card reader, with back up drive.Feedback
Its all about understanding the sport you are photographing.. and getting the timing right.. I knew this split leap was coming so fired the one shot and bang got it.. Try (if you can) to keep the backgrounds clean and uncluttered - move if you have to.. and practice practice practice.. :)
