Location
This picture was taken on a hot sunny day a the north east coast of Puerto Rico, in an area known as Piñones.Time
It was taken during the afternoon, sun high in the sky, and few clouds.Lighting
I came to this beach and area because it is a location I visited much with my mother when I was younger. We would walk among the coastline over all the rocks and the sand. My brother would always go searching for the hermit crabs and we would hold them in our hands, where they would hind in their conch and them slowly crawl out and walk on our hands and arms. On that day, my goal was to relive that moment, and capture it on my camera. I desired to photograph it up close over a rock with the ocean view behind it in a blur. Took over an our to capture my shot. The just move too much. :)Equipment
I used my very first DSLR, a Canon Rebel T3 with its kit lens, 18-55mm. The picture was taken handheld and with no filters.Inspiration
What inspired me was reliving my childhood, where I would come to the beach with my mom and brothers and we would find and play with the hermit crabs. The beautiful sunny day weekend was to perfect time and motive to get out.Editing
I did some simple post processing in Adobe Lightroom, as I took the photograph in RAW format. In my camera bag
Nowadays, I have a 70D with a 10-18mm, 15-85mm and 70-300mm, dedicated hoods, macro tubes and a 2x extender.Feedback
Sometimes you need to get down and dirty. I was on my knees deep in the sand for half and hour under the hot sun trying the get the best shot possible, with the right focus and background in place and blurred. I spent about 3 hours in the area that day. You just need to keep shooting till you discover how to take those great shots. Some even come by accident and surprise you. I'll be going back one day and retrying the shot.
