My son...my biggest fan! LOL! I don't know, there's some real pros on here, and so far I've agreed with all of the winners they've picked.

No, of course not lol. Bob painted mostly from his memories of when he was in Alaska, this is from Yosemite in California. I did put an embossed effect on my photo, to give it that artistic look. I do take it as a compliment though, I am a fan of his work.

This is a gorgeous shot of this spectacular composition; the reflections are amazing.....I have one of Ansel Adams photos of this and he would be proud of this one also.....well done! Joyce

Location
Standing on Sentinel Bridge in Yosemite National Park, looking upstream at the Merced River/Half Dome.Time
2:17 pmLighting
Unfortunately, I had the sun in my face, so I had to adjust contrast/brightness quite a bit. Although it caused a lot of the forest to be blacked out, I feel it makes all the colors more dramatic, especially the blue in the water.Equipment
Canon T3i with a Canon 75-300 mm lens no tripod or flashInspiration
At this time of year, the sunset causes a phenomena on the face of Half Dome, it turns it orange/red, and gives the effect of it being a waterfall of flames. I had planned on shooting the event at this location on the bridge, so I was taking adjustment shots in preparation. I decided this location would be too dark, so I climbed up to Glacier Point instead. (See my other pic of Half Dome) Although my inspiration was focused elsewhere, the test pictures inspired me to make the adjustments needed, in order to show this beautiful location to everyone.Editing
I only adjusted brightness/contrast to eliminate some of the sun glare. In my camera bag
Canon T3i, 18-55 mm canon lens, 75-300 mm Canon lens and a Tamron 11-18 mm wide angle.Feedback
Most importantly, this shot should be taken in the morning, using a tripod and timer/remote, in other words, the complete opposite of what I did! I will return there and make the adjustments for a clearer picture, I've also decided to shoot the "flaming waterfall " from that location with a better lens. Stay tuned...
