The little mantis was on my garden table that looking me...Time
This photo was taken in my garden at the sunset of a summer day.Lighting
The mantis waits me patiently so i could take my flash (an SB-910 Nikon), set it a 1/32 with the Nikon CLS system, a take some shots!Equipment
I used a Nikon D800 with the old 60mm f2.8D lens and a flash SB910. No tripod.Inspiration
My idea was take a dramatic photo, in contrast with the sweet little mantis. To do this i used the flash light, supported on the table. This create a strong light that emphasize the wood of the table and the lines of the mantis.Editing
Yes, i cropped the image, a little unsharp mask and a tonal regulation. In my camera bag
A lot for me! A Nikon D810, some lenses: Nikon 60 2.8D, Nikon 24-70 f2.8G, Nikon 85 f1.8G, Samyang 14 f2.8, a manfrotto XPROL 190, a Nikon SB910 and a Meike 910... Some batteries...Feedback
Not always the insects are patient... the cold moments of the day are the best for this photos. But sometime, with lucky, there are occasions that require cold blood and immediately reactions because there is no time. So is necessary have always the camera and a macro lens near you because this moments are unexpected! Take a lot of shots because there isn't a second opportunity... Only for this shot i have about 30-35 different photos!
