.....so i had to stalk this deer while it was unaware in the forest .....its back was to me and i was downwind for the most part ....but it was covered by all the growth of the forest .....motionless i managed to get some headshots which were mediocre at best ....and then it slipped off without a trace .....kneeled I stayed motionless wondering if I should follow it or not .....it seemed a good 5 minutes had past when all of the sudden this buck and 2 others bolted out of the growth towards me and about 20 feet to the left .....startled I focused and rattled off some shots as best i could .....and then all 3 froze each behind a tree ....i stayed motionless but still downwind .....I snapped off some shots to realign and prepare my focus as they were still hidden by the trees ...this lasted a few moments ...my camera and them .....and then they silently walked away as if they hadnt seen me .....after some moments I followed but always with a tree between me and them .....again they paused .....now I am sure they are going to bolt ....surely they know I am there and they have grown tired of me .....but no .....the one i had managed to photograph actually ate something from the base of a tree repeatedly and checking all about periodically .....after some time the creature made itself comfortable and layed itself along the forest floor ....this is the shot you see here.....and then I managed more shots .....the mixed lighting was an issue ....the sunlight breaking through the shade of the forest ....this experience was very peaceful with the wind blowing through the trees .....the squirrels fighting during the encounter somehow deemed my presence to be completely fine for all 3 bucks as each one took to the ground to rest in the breezy forest ......the biggest issue of course was all the plants and tree limbs blocking all of my views .....so moving about was a task. After some time I left them to their peace in the forest.
