Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken on the top parking deck of a multi-storey car park near Langenthal, Switzerland.

Time

We made this photo on 2021 March the 7th at about 14:30.

Lighting

The only source of light was the natural light. It was a warm and sunny day. In one word, beautiful. The (sun-)light was a little bit to hard but normal for this time and not bad for pictures of this kind :-)

Equipment

For this shot I used my Nikon Z7 in combination with the magnificent Sigma 24-35mm f2.0 Art Zoom Lens.

Inspiration

Long time ago I had the idea to take some great Portraits of a beautiful Model with a Austin-Healey Roadster and now the time has come.

Editing

Always! Sometimes more and sometimes less! In this case less, because the idea is here the supporting part. My workflow: After selecting the photos to edit, I choose the color look for each set, then I correct, if necessary, the light of the picture. Then sometimes I make a beauty retouch and the picture is cropped if necessary and that's it.

In my camera bag

For my portrait shootings I usually use my full format mirrorless Nikon with a set of (relatively) fast Nikon primes: A 50mm, a 85mm or 90mm macro, the magnificent Sigma 24-35mm f2.0 Art Zoom for the slightly wider angles and the Tamron 70-200mm.

Feedback

With a good idea and a relaxed model in a good mood you have nearly everything you need. Then choose your shooting location and watch the light during the shoot. A camera with manual control (but don't forget: the best camera is the one you have with you) and then go for it. And yes, don't forget to do some the post-processing ;-)
