Hi Mario! Great image. DId you know this is a rare leucisic (also called smoke or Ghost phase) Wild Turkey. It is a color phase that occurs in less than 1% of wild turkeys. They are very beautifully marked and certainly stand out in a crowd. I once say a flock of wild turkeys numbering 15 that had 5 or 6 of these smoke varients. THey seemed to be picked on by the normal colored turkeys in the flock. I have never seen another smoke turkey since that day. Kurt

Thanks, Kurt, it was the first time that I saw a smoke turkey, and a friend of mine sent me a link to the Audubon Society website describing this phenomenon. I did not see any other as well, but saw this one again a few days later around the same spot so I assumed it is the same individual. Thanks for your comment greatly appreciated!
