A wonderful image/capture with absolutely gorgeous shades/tones of brown. Truly showcases the beauty of the color brown and the light is fantastic. Exactly what I was looking for. My congratulations on your challenge win!

Thank you so much Jayne, I love this photo as well. It was taken early in the morning, with the sun illuminating perfectly this beautiful barred owl. It was magic! I had this photo printed 16X20, and never get tired looking at it. Thank you again, it is very much appreciated!

Location
This photo was taken, 1st February 2022, early in the morning around Leamy Lake, in Gatineau,QC Canada. This is a green space, close to the Casino, where a lot of people go to hike, or bike, there is a lot of fauna in the area. You can meet white tail deer, coyote, and lots of birds.Time
This photo was taken early in the morning, on a very cold day, -30 degrees Celcius! It was around 08:30 hours. The barred owl was perched on a tree trunk and being harassed by crows. This is how I found it. I stayed with the owl a good 10 minutes and took lots of photos. The bird even turned around to face me! What a wonderful experience!Lighting
The light was magic, it illuminated the barred owl with a warm glow, and warmed up this photo even on a very cold morning!Equipment
I used my Canon 5D MK IV and my Canon 100-400 mm @330mm for this photo. It is my go to set up for bird and wildlife photography.Inspiration
I do bird photography and I was looking for this barred owl. I knew it was seen in this area and was looking for it. That morning I got lucky, very lucky and got this wonderful photo, probably one of the best in 2022.Editing
I photograph in RAW so I did basic post-processing, ie, highlights an shadows, white balance and adjusted the image for composition. In my camera bag
For this type of photography, I carry 2 cameras my 5D Mk IV coupled with my Canon 100-400mm and my EOS R coupled with my RF 800mm. I don't carry a bag, I used a Black Rapid harness. I carry spare batterie in my pocket.Feedback
In order to get photo like this, do some research, check ebird in your area. Then go often early in the am or late in the pm to have this nice light. More you go, better chance to get rewarded with scene like this. it takes patience, but you have to be out there to get these chances. Good luck!
