You have some of the best pictures of the Sierra backcountry I have ever seen. I have been backpacking the Sierra's for for 20 years, and you have captured why I go back every year. Incredible talent and vision.

Location
I captured this photograph in the Nine Lakes Basin of Sequoia National Park in California. Nine Lakes Basin is in the heart of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and I shot this scene as part of a multi-day backpacking trip.Time
I shot this image in the late afternoon/evening hours as the Sun was setting behind nearby mountains. Early Spring in the mountains provide a greater chance to capture the Winter snowmelt.Lighting
With the direct sunlight off the watery foreground, I was able to slow my shutter a bit to achieve the silky flow of the water.Equipment
Nikon D5000, 12-24mm Nikkor lens, a B+W circular polarizer, and a Quantaray tripod.Inspiration
The Sierra Nevada Range is my favorite place to visit on the planet. The Nine Lake Basin is full of lakes, streams, and jagged mountains, the perfect setting for beautiful photographs. The inspiration for this particular photograph came from the fast flowing water in the foreground accompanied by the magnificent mountains in the background (the clouds didn't hurt either).Editing
I adjusted the brightness of the image in the foreground and removed dust particles as I shot this with an F/22 aperture. In my camera bag
When this photograph was made, I carried the Nikon D5000 camera, a 12-24mm Nikkor lens, a 28-300mm Nikkor zoom lens, a B+W circular polarizer, and a Quantaray tripod.Feedback
The best advice I can give to anyone wishing to capture beautiful landscapes is to just get out to your favorite wilderness and walk around. The beauty will just leap up at you and all you have to do is be there and click the shutter!!!
