This photo was taken in Leipzig, Germany, in front of the Federal Administrative Court. Obviously, it was cold enough outside to make ice.Time
You know what, other than maybe checking the raw file, I can't remember, but I assume it was during the day ;)Lighting
I was actually in the shade because the sun was on the other side of the courthouse, and because of that, everything around me was pretty evenly lit.Equipment
I used a Canon 6D with a Sigma 24mm art lens wide open at f/1.4 placed on the ground.Inspiration
I personally don't think inspiration is a good word for this kind of photo. I merely found a nice spot with a seemly nice background composition and took a shot of ice with a really shallow depth of field. Maybe I was inspired by technicality.Editing
I wanted this shot to look cold, so I edited it in photoshop and gave it an adjustment layer or two for that red-blue contrasty look.In my camera bag
I've mentioned this quite a few times, and this is a constantly changing answer. I take what I need or what I think I need with me when I plan to shoot. I don't really think that it's ever really about the gear, but at the same time, to capture this same shot, you would need the same gear, but then again, why would you be trying to take the same shot? Anyway, things I might take: Canon 6D, 90D, lenses, some drones, microphones, phone, tripods, beer, lighter, snacks, water, and maybe schnapps. Sometimes I borrow stuff.Feedback
If you want bokeh like this, then look for a nice wide prime lens that can open up its aperture to f/1.4. I prefer medium and wide lenses, like from 14mm-50mm, but that's just my preference.
