This is so lovely. What a good thing you were there when he sat on that tree.

Location
This photo was taken in Al-Azhar Park which is a public park located in the middle of ancient Cairo, Egypt. This park is listed as one of the world's sixty great public spaces by the Project for Public Spaces.Time
It was the golden hour, a little before sunset. Every year in Ramadan a large group of photographers come from different cities in Egypt to spend some quality time in the park taking pictures, socializing, and even eating together.Lighting
Facing the sun was perfect for creating a beautiful silhouette out of the tree and the bird, adding a little bit of rim lighting to them, and separating them off the background. And because it was the golden hour, a lot of warmth have been added to the picture, which made it a more pleasant capture.Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon D5100, with a Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5 lens. I didn't use any other equipment.Inspiration
I was moving around taking pictures of the cityscape when I stumbled upon this solo tree. It was the only organic curvy thing, contrasting with the hundreds of angular brick and mortar buildings in the background, and that captured my attention. And when a crow landed on the top of the tree looking at the sun setting over the ancient city it became a perfect shot waiting to be captured.Editing
I always shoot RAW and I do process every single photo I take in Adobe Lightroom. In this particular photo, the bright sun in the background caused the tree and the bird to be very dark silhouette so I opened the shadows to show some of their details instead. I also warmed up the golden tone and emphasized the blue area in the sky to add a bit of contrasting colors. In my camera bag
Actually, I'm an extreme minimalist when it comes to equipment, I always prefer being light and move freely over anything else. That's why I usually take only one camera body with a single all-in-one lens when I'm being on the move hunting for photos all day long.Feedback
Patience pays off. I've taken photos for the same tree without that bird, but I waited patiently hoping that one of those crows flying around would land on the tree which did eventually happened and gave the scene a whole different meaning, hence the title of the photo.
