Thanks. I had to travel there from Canada at the right time of year to get that light and then wait for some light cloud in an arid climate that most often has clear skies.

Location
This photo was taken at Lower Antelope Canyon which is a narrow slot canyon with colourful rock and amazing shapes formed by flash floods over the centuries.Time
I waited until late October and late afternoon so that there would be no direct sunlight on the rocks but enough light to bring out the beautiful colours.Lighting
See time of day and year for advice on lighting.Equipment
I used my old Nikon D7200 with a Nikon 10-24 f/3.5 wide angle lens and tripod.Inspiration
I had seen photos taken at the slot canyons, loved the colours and felt I just had to see them for myself and see if I could produce any worthwhile photos. I was visiting friends in Arizona and one of them is a phographer so it was the perfect opportunity.Editing
Most of my slot canyon shots, including this one, are HDR consisting of multiple shots of varied exposures so that the darkest and brightest areas of the shots are properly exposed and visible in the final composite photo. In my camera bag
These days I mostly do wildlife photography with my Nikon D850 camera and 500mm f/5.6 PF lens and tripod with Jobu gimbal. I also carry my Nikon 105mm f/2.8 macro, and Nikon 16-35mm wide angle. I often use my wired remote when I'm focused on a bird waiting for it to move or fly so I'm always ready for the shot.Feedback
If you want to get the best shots at the slots then it's best to go late or very early in the year and in late afternoon when the sun is low in the sky but there is lots of light. Otherwise direct sun on the rock will ruin your shots. Use a tripod and take a series of HDR shots (varied exposures) so that the the brightest and darkest areas of the shot will be visible in the final composite. And I think it is best to have some clouds in the sky for a more interesting shot. Arizona skies are most often clear so watch the weather and be prepared to travel there multiple times to get the shots you're hoping for.
