Location
This photo was taken at the Manhattan Beach pier in Los Angeles. It has always been one of my favorite places to photograph because it’s a great shot from any angle...any time of year.Time
This was just before sunset. I had gone down to shoot sunset but the cloud cover was too much. So I started to just focus on capturing the sky in different ways.Lighting
The lighting in this spot is usually best around sunset in the winter months. We get a lot more uninteresting skies during the winter. This day the lighting was soft and really leant itself to this dreamy look in the ocean.Equipment
Canon 6D, Canon 16-35mm f2.8, Manfrotto tripods.Inspiration
Like I mentioned before, I just love this area for photography, especially at sunset. And I enjoy playing with exposure times at the beach. And the different feels you can get from the ocean.Editing
This was a single exposure. So the only post work was color correction in Lightroom. In my camera bag
I am a Canon shooter for both bodies and lenses. I also use Gobe filters and Manfrotto and Benro tripods. And I keep it all secure in Lowepro bags.Feedback
Take what the scene gives you and learn to adapt. Strive to make your shot different. Even if it is the same place you’ve seen photos of a million times before.
